December 1 has arrived and it is time to celebrate the coming of Christmas with an advent of sorts. Continuing my tradition for its fourth year, I am now kicking off the 25 Days of Christmas Children’s Picture Books, 2015! I have quite a selection of brand new, vintage, and in-between Christmas picture books to share. I will do my best to keep each day short with just a quick post about the book and a picture or two. I hope you’ll read along.Continue reading “25 Days of Christmas Children’s Picture Books, 2015”
Continuing our week of Thanksgiving preparation, I thought it appropriate to have a grouping of books revolving simply around the theme of thankfulness. While these are perfectly themed for the holiday ahead, a grateful attitude is beautiful and necessary all year round. Let’s read three books about thankfulness!Continue reading “Let’s Read Three: Thankful Books!”
It is the week of Halloween and our street is already verging on disgusting with all the creepy, crawly decor. I’m not much of a Halloween fan, especially of the gross and terrifying stuff. But I do like hanging out with friends, eating fun treats, wearing great costumes, and clever decorations. I love themed things. So today I want to do a group pairing with a ghostly theme perfect for Halloween. Two of them aren’t technically Halloween books, but ghosts are always appropriate for the occasion and so I think they work. Join me in reading three lovely books celebrating one of the famous characters of the holiday. Let’s read three books about ghosts!Continue reading “Let’s Read Three: Ghost Books”
Perhaps this post is coming a little late in the game, but there is something about the anticipation of fall that has me once again paying attention to and thinking about gardens, plants, and typical Spring-type things. Which is kind of strange considering I am practically allergic to Spring and so far I seem to have a terrible black thumb. Even my succulents bit the dust after just a couple months of apartment living. But recently, I have had a lovely little basil pot survive and yield two batches of pesto thus far, so I am feeling more interested and encouraged about gardening, even in city life.
Before everything starts the beautiful process of dying and changing colors for my favorite season, allow me to share a (bit wordier) look at three books devoted to gardens, and more importantly, community. Let’s read three books about gardening!Continue reading “Let’s Read Three: Gardening Books”
I promise these are my last summery, beachy books for a while. I really can’t wait to jump into a bunch of new finds and especially fall books! But these three deserve some love, especially as two are brand-new this year. Join me in reading a few more books about adventures at the beach. Let’s read three more sea books!Continue reading “Let’s Read Three: More Books About The Sea!”
Summer is in full swing here and it is hot. So hot, that most people have fled to the beach to take refuge in the cool water, shady umbrellas, and chilled beverages. My August does not hold such plans, so instead I think it appropriate to read about such sea escapees. It’s time for another in the Let’s Read Three series. Join me as we see three beloved characters take to the sea for lovely vacation adventures. Let’s read three sea books!Continue reading “Let’s Read Three: Books About The Sea!”
