Happy Groundhog Day! I have always been rather fond of this silly holiday, and my interest in it grew exponentially this week when I discovered this beautiful book. A clever and stunningly illustrated story about forest friends determined to have everyone attend Moose’s upcoming Valentine’s Day party, especially Groundhog, whom they have to first stop from seeing his shadow! Delight in Groundhug Day by Anne Marie Pace, illustrated by Christopher Denise, 2017.Continue reading “Book Review: Groundhug Day By Pace & Denise”
Happy Valentine’s Day! It’s been a long quiet stretch here since Christmas Day. While I’m not one to collect many Valentine’s themed books, I couldn’t help but grab a few pictures of three of my favorite vintage Valentine books. These books are harder to find but you know I love a good trio, and these three are all quite different in their approach to this holiday. (I’ve been pondering a different format for posts on occasion, so bear with my as I try this square, quicker format today.) Let’s read three (vintage) books about Valentine’s Day!Continue reading “Let’s Read Three: Vintage Valentine’s Day Books!”
February 14th is almost upon us and while that day is just another date to some, a birthday to many people, and International Book Giving Day to others – most people know the day as Valentine’s Day. Last year I struggled to make a list of themed books as I just never really get into this particular holiday, but there really are a lot of lovely books that are love-themed, heart-themed or especially specific to the day. So, I have pulled a few of my new favorites and we’ve been reading them constantly this week in great enjoyment. Reading is a good cause anytime and love is worth being celebrated, so why not have some love-themed books on the agenda for the week! Allow me to help you find some great ones. Here are 10 children’s picture books for Valentine’s Day to help you get in the loving mood.Continue reading “Ten Lovely Picture Books For Valentine’s Day, 2014”
In apology for my lack of a good Valentine’s post, allow me to highlight this fabulous book that takes this month’s obsessive heart-theme and turns it on its head, err… into heads. Here is My Heart Is Like a Zoo by Michael Hall, 2010.Continue reading “Book Review: My Heart Is Like A Zoo By Michael Hall”
It’s storytime again! Come join us as we read a few tales about love, hearts and just plain niceness. See you at Union Ave Books at 11 am!
My apologies dear friends. I had plans for a Valentine’s book list and was working on it all week; but to be honest, my heart just wasn’t in it. (No pun intended, but it seems it was unavoidable.) I have a few books that I love and will gladly highlight after storytime this weekend; but I’ve been sick all week and had several other weekly commitments that just sucked up all the post-worthy time. Please forgive my lapse.Continue reading “A Lack of Valentine’s Books From Me”
