25 Days Of Children’s Books For Christmas!

Oh boy, do I have a series for you! Now, I can’t take credit for the book advent idea. I read about it several years ago and I deeply apologize that I don’t remember where I first heard about it. But, if you aren’t familiar with the concept, this is a sort of advent calendar where you open and read a different Christmas book each night.

I’ve been doing this for a couple years now, quite a bit before my daughter’s existence actually, and it has become a fond tradition for me already. I can’t wait until my daughter can understand and be excited for each new package too. Until that time, I’ve decided to share my book advent with you lovely readers.

This is in no way a comprehensive, a best-of-the-best Christmas books. It is simply 25 of my Christmas books that I’ve collected over the years (including a brand new one from 2012!). Some of my favorites if you will. And yes, I do actually have more than 25 Christmas books. A lot more, ridiculously enough. So I have culled these to my choice ones and tried to have a good variety. We’ll have some tree ones, a little Santa adventures, some Christian (the true story) ones, and lots of holiday and family loving ones. And I’m going to share one a day! Whew! This is going to be a full month of posts. But I’ve already got the first few lined up and am really excited so I hope you’ll join along. I can’t wait to show you some old familiar favorites and hopefully some new-to-you gems.

Also, if you are doing a Christmas book advent, I’d love to know! And if you have any favorite Christmas picture books, please, please share! I could always use a few more!

To make the series easy to follow, I’ve created a 25 Days of Christmas Books tag where you can see them all as they come. Look for day 1’s read to appear this afternoon. Happy Christmas reading!

  1. My granddaughter just turned 5. I bought her an advent calendar this year but had not heard of the 25 Christmas books. We don’t live in the same state but I will be going there next week for the holidays. I am worried about picking the right books for her age.

    Thanks,
    Deb
