Book Review: Spring Is A New Beginning By Joan Walsh Anglund

It seems spring has finally found us here in the Southeast. Thankfully I also (re)discovered this little spring book in my tiny books basket. Measuring just 4″ x 6.75″ it truly is a darling book. There is just something about the small books that are perfect for little hands, feel like a small treasure, and almost always are incredibly heartwarming. Such is this one: Spring Is a New Beginning by Joan Walsh Anglund, 1963.

Book Review: Along A Long Road By Frank Viva

Sometimes a book comes along that really just takes my breath away. Occasionally I’m prepared for it because it has intrigued me in some way by the reviews I’ve heard. Other times, I just feel my heart skip a little when I spy the cover. I open it wonderingly and wow, there it is. Such was the case with today’s book. Here is Along a Long Road by Frank Viva, 2011.

In apology for my lack of a good Valentine’s post, allow me to highlight this fabulous book that takes this month’s obsessive heart-theme and turns it on its head, err… into heads. Here is My Heart Is Like a Zoo by Michael Hall, 2010.

Book Review: The Gettysburg Address By Sam Fink

Today is dear old Abraham Lincoln’s birthday. I always feel kind of sorry for his day as it gets quite overshadowed by all the red and hearts of the coming holiday. So, in honor of our 16th President, I’m here to share one of my favorite historical picture books. This is The Gettysburg Address, inscribed and illustrated by Sam Fink, 2007.

Book Review: South By Patrick McDonnell

Book Review: Goldilocks And The Three Dinosaurs By Mo Willems

Oh this book. I love this book. It makes me laugh, out loud, a lot. With as many books as Mo Willems puts out with his beloved Knuffle Bunny series, Pigeon books, Elephant and Piggie readers, Cat the Cat, and many more… I always think I’m going to tire of his humor. But no, once again just last year, Mo added more delight to the bookshelves with this hilarious, reinvented fairytale. This is Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs, retold by Mo Willems, 2012.
